The United
Congregational Church of Tolland
is pleased to arrange for baptisms, weddings,
funerals and memorial services for Church members
and
non-members alike.
All arrangements begin by contacting the Church
office (860-875-4160) initially, and then the
pastor requested or designated.
Church policy is
that one, or both, of our pastors must officiate at
all such occasions. Fees and honoraria will be
determined, but there is
never any fee or required donation for the
sacrament of baptism.
For weddings,
guest clergy may be invited to participate, as is
also true for funeral or memorial services with the
foreknowledge and approval of the pastor
officiating. Rev. Wright is also willing to conduct
baptisms, normally included in the Sunday Worship
Services, at other times, usually following the
later Sunday morning Service.
The Church’s Minister of
Music normally provides organ music (and/or piano)
for all wedding and funeral services, unless he is
unavailable in which case he will arrange for a
substitute.
If requested, he
is also able to
|
arrange
for soloists and/or additional instrumentalists.
Also, if another
musician or recorded music is desired, and with the
approval of the church organist, a “bench fee” is
assessed.
All arrangements for every aspect of such Services
require the officiating pastor’s approval.
Prenuptial arrangements and meetings are made
directly with the officiating pastor also.
The sacrament of baptism, as noted, is normally
scheduled to take place during a regular Sunday
morning Worship Service, except on Communion
Sundays (generally the first Sunday of each
month). Prior to the baptism, the parents need
to meet with the officiating pastor in
preparation and to review the ceremony. Sponsors
(or “godparents”) may be selected by the
parents and should be available to attend and
participate in the ceremony; however,
godparent/sponsors are not required.
