Care
and Share Program
The
Care and Share program, sponsored by the Tolland
Human Services Dept. is a winter Holiday Program to
assist Tolland families in need.
The program
depends on the generosity of individuals and
organizations to help meet the increasing need
within our community.
In 2012 the
program provided food baskets to over 100 families
and elderly households for Thanksgiving and again
for their December holiday, and provided gifts to
99 children in the Tolland community.
Our Church
School
traditionally has provided complete meals at
both Thanksgiving and Christmas for 5-6
families.
Members of
each Church School class, as well as the
congregation at large,
sign up to
bring in one food item, which when combined
together makes an entire meal for a needy local
family.
Classes and
individuals have also provided gifts for local
children at Christmas.
The Christian Education
Committee organizes the donations, puts together
the baskets and delivers them.

Global Ministries Child Sponsorship Program
Heifer
International
Mission
Project
Our Church School
supports Heifer International, which provides
animals and training to families so that they
may learn to be self-reliant, and in turn help
others.
Families who
benefit from the contributions we make may
receive a cow that provides milk, or chickens
that give fresh eggs or many other life-changing
animals.
The programs we have
used to raise funds include the “Fill the Ark”
program where children use a daily calendar to
learn interesting facts and make contributions
in an “ark bank” for a period of four weeks.
We have also
held a “Living Gift Market,” where Church School
classes created a fair-like event where booths
were set up to educate the congregation about
how a particular animal would benefit a family
who receives that animal.
They also
“sold” shares of an animal or a whole animal.

information about Heifer, visit

UNICEF
Annual Campaign
Our Church
School
children traditionally participates in the
annual Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign.
Trick-or-Treat
for UNICEF shows many children that they can
make a difference in the world by volunteering
to help others.
They do this
by collecting coins during the month of October
and/or when they go out to Trick-or-Treat on
Halloween night.
UNICEF works in 190
countries and territories and works hard to save
and improve children’s lives by providing health
care, immunizations, clean drinking water,
sanitation, nutrition, education and emergency
relief.
Every single
day thousands of children die from easily
preventable diseases, such as cholera. The goal
is to have ZERO children die from preventable
causes.

about Trick or Treat for UNICEF, you can visit
their website at
