The Parish Nurses’
mission is to promote the spiritual, mental and
physical health of our congregation members. We
do this through prayer, education, evaluation,
referral and various other support modalities
dependent on the situation and needs of the
person’s family or group. The parish nurses meet
on a monthly basis to update each other on
events and progress of the ongoing program
activities, goals and projects. We also discuss
and plan future activities for the group.
Our typical activities
include:
-
Providing support to
church members during their times of
illness, both personal and for their family
members.
-
Providing and
organizing presentations on health related
topics throughout the year. Topics are
suggested by individuals, groups within the
church and needs observed by the parish
nurses.
-
Maintaining
first aid kits and an AED in the church. The
first aid kits are located over the sink in
the church kitchen. The AED is located on
the exterior wall across from the church
office.
-
Blood pressure
screenings on the first or second Sunday of
each month.
-
Providing
health-related articles each month for the
Tidings publication.
-
Sponsoring
the annual blood drive.
